One thing that few could argue with over the Covid pandemic crisis is that the rules are ever changing and can be very confusing. We started, in March, with a very strict lockdown and as time has progressed, those restrictions have gradually been relaxed in various ways. Plumbing and heating engineers have always been classed as 'essential workers' and, as such, have been allowed to go into people's homes to conduct repairs. Initially, this was limited to urgent issues but now, all plumbing and heating services are accessible. This includes anything from boiler servicing to having new bathrooms installed.
However, just a few days ago, several areas were deemed to be of concern and placed back into a stricter lockdown. Known as local lockdowns, this has affected a number of regions that we cover including Kirklees, Calderdale, Bradford and Greater Manchester. These restrictions mean that you cannot see people from other households in your home or in your garden.
If you live in one of these areas, or are just concerned that your own area may be placed in similar measures, you may be wondering how this affects any plumbing and heating work you were planning to get done. We would like to reassure you that, because we are still classed as essential workers, we can continue to come into your home to carry out work. This includes urgent repairs as well as proactive home improvements.
So, if you have an appointment booked with us, this will still go ahead. You are also still able to book appointments with us.
Of course, when we do come to your home, it is important to point out that all the Covid working practices that we have been operating since March, still apply. This means that our engineers will use appropriate PPE, that we will ask you to maintain social distancing and you must tell us if anyone in your household is experiencing any symptoms. We would also ask that you inform us if anyone in the household is vulnerable/has been shielding and whether anyone is quarantining (eg if they have recently returned from Spain or have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for Covid-19).
This is the case unless government restrictions change and we are advised otherwise.
