Gas Breakdown Engineer

A Domestic Gas Engineer is required to join a specialist domestic gas maintenance company, with an outstanding reputation for risk management and delivering excellent levels of customer service to our customers and clients.

Our territory spans from York to Nottingham and Grimsby to Manchester, currently we are looking for a domestic gas breakdown engineer in the Chestefield area.

Our position is for a domestic gas engineer to attend boiler breakdowns for our blue chip insurance clients. We repair all makes and models of boiler in customers homes with a team of engineers who can electrically test and diagnose faulty components to pin point the problem with a high first time fix rate.

Our team of gas engineers and plumbers is well supported with continuous manufacturer and H&S training, tech engineer help and positive performance appraisals allowing you to develop your skills in field. You can expect a high level of planning and office support to enjoy a productive working day.

Sales focused, in addition to serving our insurance clients we offer life enhancing services and products to our customers, this aspect of your role attracts a generous bonus which is paid quarterly.

Your rota is supplied well in advance and comprises a 5 day working week, overlaid with 12 weekends a year (you will have two days off in the week to compensate) and a call out rota of approximately 8.5 weeks cover in a year.

In addition to an excellent support and development framework you will be supplied with uniform a company van, analyzer, PDA and 28 days holidays a year and an attractive pay structure.


Salary: £30,000.00 to £32,000.00 / year

Job Coordinator

We are looking for customer service professionals to join our busy booking team here at Working with several of the UK's leading insurance providers as well as private customers, we provide plumbing and heating services across the north and require enthusiastic, customer focused individuals to coordinate jobs and provide that essential link between customers, clients and engineers.

Based at our Wakefield office, duties will include:

  • Taking client and customer enquiries and being the first point of contact for incoming queries and issues related to maintenance work
  • Logging jobs, job bookings and allocating jobs to engineers on the in-house system while asking questions to determine the nature of the problem, ensuring jobs get booked in with agreed service level agreements
  • Processing visit return requests from engineers and other paperwork as requested
  • Ensuring all scheduled work is completed within set timescales
  • Responding to email messages from customers seeking help

We run a busy office and you will need to be able to handle a high volume of calls on a daily basis. We offer full training but previous experience of call handling, job coordination or planning would be a distinct advantage. You will need to be computer literate and able to work under your own initiative.


We require you to be flexible to work shifts between 8am and 9pm Monday to Sunday. You will work shift rotas between these hours totalling 42.5 hours per week.

Due to being a 24 hours, 7 days a week company, overtime is also available during busy periods.


We are offering a starting salary of £19,000 with performance related progression to £21,000 with the potential of overtime to enhance your package. We are also dedicated to promoting from within offering the potential of career progression with the company.

Lead Plumber

£26,000 basic which will rise to £28,000 after two year’s continuous service, plus overtime, plus potential bonus of up to £4,000 p/a

With all of the above there is a potential to earn up to £32,000 per annum after 2 years continuous service

A Lead Plumber is required to supervise a team of domestic reactive maintenance plumbers who carry out all aspects of plumbing work e.g. installing and replacing toilets, taps, ball valves, siphons, flexible hoses, pipework, radiator valves, domestic heating pumps, 2 port valves, 3 port valves, cylinders, radiators etc

Our territory spans from York to Nottingham and Grimsby to Manchester and you be will be required to cover the entire area.

Our team of plumbers are well supported with regular toolbox talks and H&S training, tech help and positive performance appraisals allowing them to develop their skills in the field.

In addition to serving our insurance clients we offer upgrade services and products to our customers, this aspect of the role provides an additional bonus which is paid monthly.

The engineer’s rota is structured with 4 days on followed by 4 days off and includes a call out rota.

In addition to support and development framework the company will be supply uniform, a company van, PDA and 28 days holiday's a year including bank holidays.


  • Provide technical assistance to ALL Plumbing engineers
  • Supply daily ‘tech’ authorisation codes for any diagnosis made by an engineer which requires a return visit
  • A Representative “goto person” for the Plumbing Manager with regards technical issues
  • To make engineers more profitable :-
  • 1st time fix
  • Parts cost
  • Extra sales/jobs
  • Deliver training to engineers – attend site with them on “problem” jobs
  • Carry out audits – Job & Van using our auditing system


  • Deliver Coaching on Areas of Weakness identified by the Plumbing Manager
  • Promote Company Values and Procedures
  • Maintain Safe Working Practices through onsite Audits (which you will carry out – long term goal)
  • Improve the Technical knowledge of engineers
  • Deliver 1-1 Feedback to Engineers as instructed by the Plumbing Manager
  • Identify Areas of Weakness in Engineers and report to the Plumbing Manager
  • Regular contact with Plumbing teams (Daily)
